Curriculum
The curriculum has three main components: required courses, elective courses and projects. Students are required to complete a minimum of 26 credits by taking four required courses, three elective courses, and one project. Full-time students are provided with an option to take an extra project course to make up the total credits maximally to 31. The normal period for completing the degree is 1 year by full-time mode and 18 months by part-time mode. The majority of the courses will be conducted in weekday evenings/Saturdays at HKUST.

Remarks:
- It is an approved reimbursement course under Continued Education Fund (CEF). Eligible applicants will be reimbursed 80% of the relevant course fees, subject to a maximum sum of HK$12,760.
- The offering of elective courses is subject to availability of teaching resources and student enrollment.
- BTEC 5360 is recommended for students with no or limited laboratory experience, and can attend day-time classes on weekdays.
- If a student takes EEMT 5100 (2 credits), he/she is required to take FOUR elective courses in order to fulfill the credit requirement of electives. It may subsequently extend the degree period and involve extra per-credit fee, particularly for part-time students.
- Only suitable for students who can attend day-time classes on weekdays.
- BTEC 6930 / BTEC 6940 are recommended for students with previous laboratory experience and can participate in day-time laboratory work. The number of students who can take this course may vary each year depending on the availability in the laboratory.
Methods of Instruction
The classes are lecture-based with a broad range of teaching methods such as discussions, seminars, case analysis, and individual/group projects may also be employed. The language of instruction is English.
Graduation Requirement
To graduate from the program, a student must complete the program with a graduation grade average (GGA) of 2.850 or above as required of all postgraduate students by the University.
