The program fee is HK$142,000 (full-time mode) and HK$128,000 (part-time mode), to be paid in 3 and 4 installments, respectively:

Note:
- The fees stipulated above only cover maximally 31 and 27 credits, for full-time and part-time students, respectively.
- The fee stipulated above only covers a registered study period of 12 months and 18 months, for full-time and part-time mode, respectively.
- Students are required to pay HK$5,300 per credit if they take extra credit or stay in the program beyond the registered period covered by the nominal fee.
- Students admitted with credit transfer are also required to pay the nominal program fee.
- Major intake of full-time mode is usually in the Fall term of every academic year, hence, the admission places available for the following Spring term would be very limited, and mainly for local students.
1. Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme 2024/25

The Master of Science in Biotechnology Program is one of the programs awarded by the University Grants Committee (UGC) to encourage meritorious local students to pursue inter-disciplinary and in-depth postgraduate training in priority areas of strategic importance for Hong Kong.
Eligibility:
- Applications are open to local students, both full-time and part-time students are eligible;
- Students must be admitted to the Master of Science in Biotechnology Program in 2024/25;
- To avoid double subsidy, applications from students who are receiving other forms of government scholarship for pursuing the same program will not be considered.
Fellowship amount:
The fellowship students are required to pay a minimum tuition fee of HK$42,100, and the differences will be subsidised by the fellowships subject to a cap of HK$120,000 for each student regardless of the actual study period of the programme.
Selection criteria:
The award of the fellowships will be based on merits taking into account the students' academic achievements, professional qualifications, relevant working experience, achievements in other areas and interview performance as well as the proposals submitted by the students with special attention to their personal statements on how they can contribute to the priority areas of Hong Kong after completing the programme.
Application procedure:
Applicants must receive an offer for admission to the program before applying for the Fellowship. Upon offer acceptance, applicants have to submit the application form including the personal statement on the commitment and plan in serving at least one of the following priority areas of Hong Kong after completing the Program:
- Emerging Research
- Hong Kong’s Strategic Position as a Regional and International Business Centre

2. Admission Scholarship (For student(s) admitted in the Fall semester)#
The Master of Science in Biotechnology Program offers Admission Scholarships to both local and non-local full-time students on the basis of their outstanding academic performance. Students do not have to apply for the scholarships. The Program will select qualified students and inform the selected students of the scholarship awards in due course.
Admission Scholarships will be awarded to no more than 10% of student intake of that particular year. The value of each Admission Scholarship is HK$10,000.
3. Biotechnology Scholarship#
Students with exemplary academic performance during the MSc degree period may be awarded one-off scholarships# up to HK$10,000. Both local and non-local full time students are eligible for consideration.#Scholarships are subject to availability of funding
Continuing Education Fund (CEF)
One of the required courses of the program, BTEC 5220 Business Operations in Biotechnology, is an approved reimbursable course for CEF purposes. Applicants who apply for CEF for the first time or applicants who have opened CEF accounts before 1 August 2022 (regardless of whether their accounts were closed in the past), they may submit claims for reimbursement of fees for CEF reimbursable courses commenced on or after 1 August 2022. The maximum entitlement for new applicants is HK$25,000. For applicants who have opened CEF accounts before 1 August 2022, they are eligible for claiming the additional HK$5,000 subsidy and the unused balance (if any) of the original subsidy of HK$20,000. The co-payment ratios by learners (i.e. the percentage of fees to be borne by learners) for the first HK$10,000 subsidy is 20% of the course fee and that for the remaining HK$15,000 subsidy is 40% of the course fee.
